I hope this helps. Does that seem like a lot?
Thanks, Maureen - and Happy Baking! How many cups of flour in a pound of wheat?
For treats like cookies, sweet breads and cake, do the soft white wheat. Thank you so much for checking up on me about this.Dr. William Davis, Wheat: The UNhealthy Whole Grain
We calorie calculate everything [ Reply ] melanie Reply: Until I became serious about baking bread I thought all flours were alike. We live in Utah and I have tried several ways to get wheat berries. Do you have any idea how long they stay fresh?
Renee from Florida. Other than that, I have found this chart to be very reliable — I keep a copy handy in the kitchen.
I use it to weigh not only my baking ingredients, but also to check the weight on lots of different cooking projects, homemade body-care recipes, soap-making projects, etc. The organic flour is different in several ways color, moisture content, etc which I can both live with and adjust for but the unfortunate difference is a pronounced grittiness.
Love, love all their flours! I have no idea why that works, but it does.
I printed out a little chart to put with my wheat berries. Check with bulk suppliers, grain elevator owners where farmers sell straight from the field etc.
Tell the boys, Ian says hello! I will never bake with anything other than King Arthur.
Comments Thank you for your calculations…I also grind wheat and use prairie gold in all recipes calling for flour. We have allergies to dairy and tree nuts here too and have learned to love coconut oil — it really does work great as a substitute for butter.
Did you happen to weigh it after it was flour… was it still 1 pound?
I don't know what to do, other than feel regret.. HI Laura!
