Most pedometers request that you enter your stride length during setup in order to calculate distance based on your step count. Taking 10,000 daily steps means you've walked about five miles or 9 kilometers. That said, we do live in a world where imperial and metric awkwardly co-exist and so I'm happy to include both mile and kilometer calculations.
The program consisted of repeated intervals of three minutes of fast walking, aiming for an exertion level of about six or seven on a scale of one to 10, followed by three minutes of slow strolling. In fact, lots of people treat pedometers as a fashion statement like the FitBit.
The number of steps per mile varies from person to person and depends on your stride length. It's best to go around four times to get a full mile on a quarter-mile track, so you won't need to do any math.

Most of these devices come set with a default goal of 10,000 steps a day, which is a number commonly associated with a basic or moderate level of fitness. These steps are for those with shorter legs and a shorter height.
This method may not be as accurate as measuring your exact steps. And, as mentioned, pay attention to proper posture while you walk.
