DPI is a printer Quality setting. When you resample, the image quality can degrade to some extent.
Are you changing the metadata setting at the same time? Changing inch size only.

This gives them the most flexibility. Any of these will work so choose the one easiest to remember for you. The physical size changes to fit the total number of pixels and the number of pixels in each inch pixel dimensions and resolution.
