The book is essentially an anthology of works and quotes of many great men broken into seven themed chapters. It got me strangely interested in Jack London, and the chapter on discipline was pretty good.
He must not be a coward or a weakling, a bully, a shirk, or a prig. Overall it is a nice reference piece as one can read a concise anecdote regarding virtues to either end or being the day. He reviewed about the meaning of life, or at least how to live within it even under immense suffering, and to put meaning into it through spiritual means. This anthology had a lot of great pieces in it, I just wish there was more discussion by the authors about what each of these virtues meant and how they could be applied in daily life. Another favorite by Brett and Kate McKay. Become a man.

I would recommend reading the book a passage a day, almost as a reflection piece to work out over a year or so.
